The Community Youth Center sponsored by Mt. Pleasant UMC offers youth in 6th through 12th grade a variety of self-led
activities with little to no cost to the youth. There is no membership required to participate and you do not need to
be a church member.
The following information is provided so parents and youth may be informed about the expectations, policies and
procedures at The Youth Center.
The Youth Center operates on a drop-in format. Participants are free to come and go from the facility
as they wish. Youth Center attendants can not keep track of whom your youth came or left with. Attendants will
enforce the sign-in and sign-out rule as well as the no re-entrance policy. Parents should make it clear to youth what
the rules and expectations are regarding arriving and leaving the facilities.
Youth may NOT be dropped off at the facility until the Youth Center sign clearly states "OPEN" and no youth will
be allowed to wait outside the building for their ride. It is the general policy of the Center to remain with
youth until they have been picked up at the conclusion of the evening. All youth must be off the church property
by closing time.
The Youth Center does not provide telephone access to participants unless it is an emergency.
Transportation arrangements should be made prior to leaving your youth at the Center.
Food & Drinks- A combination snack and drink machine is located in the Youth Center. Pizza is sold
from the kitchen for $1.00 per slice. Drinks and snacks are $.50 each. The largest denomination bill the machine will
accept is $1.00 and it only accepts quarters. Please keep this in mind when bringing money .
Bring items at your own risk. Youth will be required to check in large belongings such as duffle
bags, pool stick bags, etc. A supervised area in the kitchen is provided for those wishing to check-in purses or
other posessions. The Youth Center nor it's volunteers will be responsbile for lost or stolen items.
Youth should dress appropriately for the season. It is not the responsibility of the attendants
to make sure youth wear coats in the winter when going out on the deck. Participant's appearance should not attract
undue attention and should be appropriate for the activities offered.
WHAT TO EXPECT WHEN VISITING
The Youth Center participants are required to complete a brief information card requesting name, address, phone
number, parent's name, contact number and other basic information that could be needed in the event of an emergency.
After the completion of this card, a photo will be taken of each youth and attached to the card for quick identification.
Concurrent visits- Immediately upon entering the building, an adult will be waiting at the sign-in area.
Youth will give the adult their name and wait for the adult to find and pull their information card. Youth will
then be responsible for signing, dating and recording the time they entered and then left the facility.
